Although the Government of China get much attention from the international community for their brutal policy toward the Uighur community, not make the country reevaluate their bad policy. Indonesia as the biggest Muslim country has a responsibility to take action in its issue. In the grass-roots society, many Indonesian citizens uphold the Uighur Muslim issue. Social media it’s one of the platform for them to rising social campaign on what the Chinese Government acting towards Uighur Muslim community.

The foundation of Indonesian reacting on what the Chinese Government acting toward the Uighur is driven by “identity and solidarity”. In Islam teaching, all Muslim has a duty to mutual-helping toward other Muslim. Therefore, many citizens in my country (Indonesia) feel so hurting on what their Muslim brother got from the Chinese authorities.

The Cabinet of Working, Act Now!

Many parties in Indonesia have taken actions in the Uighur issue. But, only the government could be pushing the Government of China to stop their unjustifiable policy. However, until now the Government of Indonesia which is under the Cabinet of Working and lead by President Joko Widodo aka Jokowi are choosing to silent. The Jakarta Post reported the Vice-President of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla during an interview by the Jakarta Post on Monday (17/12) was reasserts that the Government of Indonesia doesn’t initiate to intervene in the domestic affairs of another country — China (The Jakarta Post, 17/12/2018).

Although previously, the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) had condemned the Chinese Authorities over the crackdown, saying it was not in line with the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights that guarantees religious freedom for every human in the world — The Government of China was signed the covenant in 1998, but has yet to ratify it.

Din Syamsuddin as the MUI advisory council leader and also the former chairman of Muhammadiyah — an Indonesia’s second-biggest Islamic organization after Nahdlatul Ulama — demand that the Government of Indonesia take firm action to advocate for the Uighur community.

President Jokowi and his cabinet must action before the Muslim population in its country don’t pay respect on his authorities. And the long effect of this attitude was worsening in his next presidential election.

If They Didn’t Act, They were Violations of Their Constitution

Pancasila is the root of all laws in Indonesia. Pancasila consists of two words which are driven from Sanskrit language, Panca, and Sila. Panca stands for “five” and Sila stand for “principles”.

Pancasila has five principles. In the second principle, Pancasila mentions “A just and civilized humanity”. Based on the second principle, the Government of Indonesia must stand for humanity. If the government look at their constitution, then they must advocate any humanity issues, including on the Uighur community.

The Government of Indonesia under the Jokowi administrator in the few years has the assertion that they are the most in line with the constitution party. And in this case, their assertion is under questioning by their populace.
