Always a good time coming here. Guess I have time to yelp since not a Jack pot winner. First time in about 4 trips not a winner. But the thrill it"s fun here.
The table games are usually crowed. Usually at the dice tables. But they do slow for a winning night. For me most times. Ok not tonight.
The temp is pretty good in the casino. Seems cooler in the food court.
I"ve eaten at 2 of Emeril"s restaurants in the casino. The Food is pretty good. The food court is not that bad. Has plenty choices for many taste buds.
Always a good trip to visit Sands. Tried 3 times so far to get a comp room, but so far they"ve always been booked. But I"ll get it I"m sure. That"s when I"ll try the spa here.
I can"t go out of my way and give a 5* plus, I"m going to have to write an updated review in the future.
I have only had the opportunity to experience the gaming - not the food, the shopping or the hotel yet. Here are the pros and cons:
Pros
-Super friendly dealers
-Very courteous players
-Gaming seems to go very quickly (I play craps)
Cons
-No bonus bets - all tall small or fire. Some might think of this as a pro.
-Not enough tables open
-Too smoky
Since I live approximately 45min to 1hr away, I definitely will continue to come back. Also, I believe their comping seems to be decent.
Well folks what can I say ......
I"m NOT crazy about all the NYC HOMELESS FOLKS meandering around the floor area. GAWKING, SPITTING & COUGHING EVERYWHERE. ! ! !
I"ve been seeing less and less table game players?
SANDS is continuing to ABRUPTLY RAISE table game limits in the MIDDLE OF PLAYING.
PENNSYLVANIA STATE GAMING COMMISSION published that for three quarters in a row
BETHLEHEM SANDS REVENUE IS DOWN.
ONE WORD SATURATION ! ! !
If you would like to have a good time playing table games go to MOUNT AIRY IN THE POCONOS
Mount airy has 10$ blackjack on the weekends !!
They also give small gifts to the regular players every week.
Do not let the first picture fool you! At first glance, I thought this was going to be a small town casino, where locals perform at a karaoke night giving themselves that 5 minutes of fame! Man, Was I wrong!
Pulling up, the exterior looked very modernize. They offered Valet at the front but good thing I Uberred here from airport. Walking in, I was amazed at the size of this place. It had a lot of decorations hanging from the ceiling and slot machines drowned the floor as far as my eyes could see.
I made my way to the baccarat tables where they offer free hands. As many as you want which is unheard of in any casino.
I just browsed a little as I made my way to the food courts. It had a wide variety of food and retail choices to choose from.
Sands casino is definitely a place for the locals to enjoy or try their luck!
Hubby insisted that I needed to check out this casino. He described it as huge and super popular in the Bethlehem area. Having done so together, I must say that this casino supports my theory, that in general, a casino is just another casino. Once you"re inside, the gaming areas are pretty much all the same.
A few brief points:
The casino is definitely large and quite busy, about 60 percent full in capacity.
Fun Fact: This was formerly the Bethlehem Steel Mill, so look up at the ceiling, and you"ll see steel beams. The lights were supposedly designed to represent the dripping, hot melting steel.
The bar area began to get smoky as time went on while we were chatting with friends.
I would not recommend the super small buffet with sub par food.
What can u say about a casino when they all tend to be the same? Well i have come to find out, since i no longer smoke, that they stink. They do have the floor separate between smokin an non-smokin, but the room is totally open so the smell just wafts thru. If u can put up with the smoke smell, fun can be held by all. Just remember no matter what casino u go to take only what u can afford to lose and leave when u lose it, but have fun while ur doin it. The Sands here is kind of nice, i just wish i had more time to spend here.
I thought I"ve seen it all. But I actually witnessed with my own two eyes a Chinese man with his socks off, sitting at a slot machine clipping his toe nails. When I went to alert Security, they stood there and laughed. In addition to the continuing theft, loitering and overall unacceptable behaviors, this place has really turned into a dive. It seems like both Sands management and security don"t care any more. I would like very much to see Sands get back to the way they used to be. A respectable, nice, relaxing place to have fun.
Hopefully when Wind Creek finally closes on the acquisition in the next few months, things will change for the better. We only hope...
I always seem to enjoy myself at the Sands Casino, Win or Loose! They have a great variety of Machines and tables, the only downfall is that the ventilation system could be better when it comes to the smoking side of the Casino. I"m a non smoker and I always have a problem breathing when I am in or near that section, it also seems like some of the better slots are in the Smoking area. As for East Coast Casinos I still prefer Atlantic City because of the variety of other Casinos, that"s what"s lacking in Bethlehem, PA; there are no other Casinos nearby to offer that competitiveness that I do long for and love. Then why do I go to the Sands over AC you ask? Because it"s conveniently located an hour off of RT 78 and so much closer to me than Atlantic City. To be truthful this is only my go to place when I"m not up to that long AC haul or they"re offering some descent promotion, either way it"s something to do and the outlet mall is attached to the Casino and there are a great selection of Restaurants in both the mall and casino as well. Overall it"s not Vegas or Atlantic City, but if you like the Casino atmosphere, give the Sands a try; what"ll you have to lose?
We stopped by the Sands Friday night to attend the Price is Right Live Show. Before the show we only had limited time so we got something to eat from the food court. We had a burger and Asian food. We both enjoyed what we got to eat and then headed to the show. I was able to get same day tickets at a bargain of only $30 for both tickets and even though I didn"t get called up or win anything we both really enjoyed the show and it was very entertaining. After the show we stopped by the Croissanterie to get some coffee and then we headed back over to the casino. Now here is where our night was abruptly cut short... When we entered the over 30 line to get back into the casino the rather young security guard stopped us and asked my 50 year old fiancé for his ID. Unfortunately he had left it in the car and tried to explain that we would need to get back to the parking deck to get it. However the security guard didn"t want to hear it and would not let us through. I had my ID but I wasn"t asked so I guess I must look elderly since I"m 8 years younger then him. Needless to say I wasn"t going to go in the casino without him. Also to point out we both had our name tags on from the show so clearly we had both already gained entry to the casino to begin with. So we had to walk all the way back around the casino in order to leave. Totally turned our great evening into a big disappointment. I really wish I knew why they wanted his ID in the first place since as I said there is no way to think he could be under 21 when he"s 50 but I guess I"ll never know that answer as we were not provided one. I would hate to think it was some kind of discrimination but I can"t honestly think of anything else. So in the future I think we need to reconsider patronizing this establishment and just drive a little further to Parx or Mount Airy since we"ve never had an issue at either of these Casinos. By all means please feel free to visit and judge for yourself just don"t forget your ID.
Pretty nice casino and interesting design.
My wife and I came to Sands for the first time together and left with a positive experience overall. The casino is not the biggest by any stretch, but it definitely had a different feel to it. The design of the casino probably had a lot to do with it. The casino was modern-looking, relatively clean and had a steel construction design. You"ll know what I mean once you step foot into it.
For anyone interested in slots, there were plenty of them all around. The outer sections of casino were occupied by slots, while the inner circle of the casino was occupied by table games. Although the entire casino is not smoke-free, there were designated smoking sections, but it felt like most of the casino was smoking so beware of that aspect. All of the restaurants in the casino were on the outer edges of the casino floor, so they were all easily accessible. There was also a small outlet mall and food court connected to the casino as well. The outlet had a few stores, but nothing really great.
As for parking, the great thing was that it was free, which makes it easy to leave the premises and come back as you please! Overall, we liked Sands and thought it was a decent casino. There was plenty of action all around. There was only one thing that really bothered us a bit and that was the over zealous security at each casino floor entrance asking for ID every time to those that did not look over 30.
This place is super "meh". I come here because it"s closer for me than traveling to AC. The rewards system in AC is much better and they always comp me a room and give me free play. The only good thing about Sands is that they give me more in free play than AC does, but never have they once comped a room. The drinks are watered down and they don"t come often at all, so a lot of the times I just end up going to the bar and paying for s drink there.
This place has a lot of older people. Even the bar/dance floor area is full of seniors. The often have a live band playing and tonight they actually filed a "The Price is Right" episode.
There"s free parking and they have a small "outlet" mall attached. You can use your comps to pay in food court and at the stores in the mall, which is rather convenient. They don"t have a big selection when it comes to stores and it seems they cater to the older crowd with stores like "Talbots".
I had dinner at the Emeril"s chop house several times and it is very overpriced and the food is nothing great. I"ve also tried a few spots in the food court and the food tastes like it was frozen and reheated in a microwave (which is honestly what probably happened, lol).
Overall, convenient because of the location and free parking, but if you can sacrifice taking the extra time to go to AC i highly recommend doing so.
Stick to Atlantic City. The smell of cigarette smoke is horrible. I had people bumping into me. The shopping outlets are small. Security was very rude as well. Definitely not worth spending your money here.
The Sands is a great place to see a concert. I tried to get tickets on Ticketmaster and the seats sucked and the fees were high. I got the seats on StubHub got much better seats with lower fees. I highly recommend both the Sands Casino Event Center and StubHub.
Ok casino. They have lots of signage that there are low priced tables yet none to be found. Not my issue but just an observation. The hotel also would not allow a late check out. I offered to pay for it and they still declined. Will stick with AC
Once again, my visit to this casino was spoiled by the way staff treat Asians who frequent the casino. Staff"s behavior is aggressive and disrespectful. When I see young staff members treating elderly Asian people with disrespect, it makes a visit to the casino very unpleasant. It is already difficult enough to enjoy yourself there because the casino is not a smoke-free environment. The New York State casinos are thriving and have a smoke-free environment. When I make the trip to Bethlehem for an enjoyable experience, it is very disconcerting to have to deal with the smoke and aggression displayed by The Sands staff. As an African-American patron to see racism directed at another group of people makes it necessary that I speak out and curtail my visits to the Sands.
So, before I wrote this (or during, you can decide), I looked over to the right of my screen and it lists "Recent Reviews." I hate when I see people copy the reviews that I"ve not yet written!!! How dare you and how do you know what I will write! Lol
Ok, all done with the fun. This place sucks. It sucks so bad I don"t even know how to begin to list the suckyness of this place.. and I don"t think suckyness is a word, but it"s the only one that fits. Ok, here it goes...
- I"ve been to many a casino in many a country. This casino is BY FAR is the smokiest EVER!! Do they even have vents and/or fans to try and suck the smoke out? I know you can smoke in them, but holy hell, this is awful! The smoke is so bad, it looks like you"re walking through a scene in the Friday the 13th, by the water, walking thru the fog, waiting on Jason to slice your throat. You"ll never see him coming!
- Cocktail waitress service. Yes, you get free drinks when you gamble, but the trick is finding these said servers....they are like hitting a jackpot in this casino.. few and VERY far between. Once you see one, they will have a tray of over 25 pre-made drinks and beer. They are all served in the same clear plastic cups you see at water fountains. Maybe 8oz cups? You then pick the one you want, of course it"s not strong at all, tip as you wish, and then try and make your "Free Drink" last for an hour or so until you see this unicorn of a server reappear with a tray of 25+ drinks. Horrible service!!
- Table games.. They have them, but good luck getting a seat and finding your favorite game.
- Casino Bar. Not the crappy Molten Bar, but the one in the middle of the casino. So, usually, you gamble, you get free drinks as I stated, but not here. You pay for your drinks at this bar whilst you gamble.. I will say, they are priced pretty good - a Irish Car Bomb was $10 and a Malibu Bay Breeze was 6.. I think it was $6, maybe $8, but either way, not bad prices.
It goes without saying, that I"ll never, EVER set foot back here. My wife and I only came here because we found a good deal at a Marriott close by. I"d rather drive over 2 more hours, spend more on a room and gamble in AC. At least there you know what to expect. Don"t waste your time and money here.
This place is awful ... flagged us after 2 drinks and escorted us out... said we were over the limit and we had to leave....
Chris, one of the black jack dealers, deserves a raise. Friendliest, outgoing, dealer I have ever been in the presence of while gambling. Made my experience amazing there! Five stars to Chris!!
Be advised this casino is a sham, they bring you in with promises of casino benefits and "prizes" but they are small at first and you end up giving them your money. Then there comes a day when you hit big and all of a sudden a the perks and benefits stop and when you ask why they tell you that you don"t play enough. I played for almost 3 months after I won a jackpot and not one time did I receive any type of perk or incentive.
This casino is nice. Poker room has a homey feel with friendly games. They have adequate amenities. The buffet which we enjoy has the same food options every night excepts the carving choices changed. The desserts are okay and seating space is cute. Wait staff was always friendly and accommodating. One morning we had breakfast from the menu and it was good and again waitstaff was accommodating.
The outlets stores that connects hotel and casino are a nice addition, especially, if you don"t gamble. The problem for some may be the walk from hotel to casino. The other concern was walking down a long, somewhat, isolated hallway to casino. Few signs that direct guests in those areas. They probably should have a security person or two in that hallway if you are not walking through store area, but again, it"s the same feel if stores are closed and you are walking through. There is no one there except for customers or casino visitors and hotel guests. More security presence through those areas of hallway and stores would benefit guests staying at hotel. Staff is nice and prices for hotel and outlets are ok.
